Animation Motion Design: New Story Ideas and Poster

Presentation Friday 17th
After a presentation of the Short Animations I felt my story was a bit boring and generic in comparison, plus it's quite similar to the group story, so I fell I am lacking in the story telling area perhaps? The presentation kind of got my brain rolling and I started brainstorming again. I might keep the initial story but change the location and characters. A more fantasy like theme appeals to me the most. Perhaps change the characters into some kind of mad looking creatures or something, I'm not sure yet. Hopefully I'll have that all decided by next week, if not I will stick to my current idea.

After my own presentation I was given suggestions of more and even very vibrant colours. My story is pretty general but the way I express it could be interesting. Also suggested mix media and hand drawings... hmmm we will see with some more experimentation.

I was brainstorming for a more interesting story I came up with this poster:

Tutor said he didn't get the hand in the above poster because of the 3 fingers, it looks like an object instead and perhaps to change it a bit.

Remake:

I kept the original style but changed the composition. Can clearly see hands now hopefully.

Draft Story

The light orb = woman in my original story, symbol of hope?
Shadow man = a shadow of the gloomy taxi driver?

It starts off with a view of a dark urban city. Then there is a shot at ground level of the busy streets. Focus on a certain part of the street and notice a dark figure sitting in a dark alleyway, unnoticed by passers by. Next we move to his point of view watching the people walk by. We then look at this character sad and alone in this dark place. The area around him begins to glow a soft blue colour. Shadey notices and looks up. Over his shoulder we see a small floating blue orb character glowing and filling the area with light. Shadey goes to poke/ touch it because he's never seen anything like it. The orb pulls back and flies off. Shadey fascinated and happy that he was acknowledged gets up quickly to chase after it. We follow Shadey as he dodges people and traffic after the orb. Eventually he catches it. We then look at his hands, blue light escaping from between his fingers. A sudden burst of light. Panning shot from Shadey's feet to his head. He has transformed into a new, lighter, happier self. We then see Shadey's face surprised and then happy staring forward. We then look back at his hand which are now holding someone else's hand. A female figure is before him now. They both smile.
