Animations I like

Some of my friends pointed out these animations to me and I love them!

[Luka][360p][Eng sub] Just Be Friends
This animation is a music video. It's made in a beautiful style, I really like it! I think I've come across manga made in the same style. If  ever come across the manga again I'll post the artists name here. I just think its a beautiful animation and its done quite simply. All it is made up of are still images and moving the camera around with the odd bits of animation.

 Draw with Me
This was completely drawn frame by frame on Flash. I'd love to make something like this! It's such a cute and sad story. I'm a sucker for cute things so I had to put this beautifully made animation on my blog.

I also found this link to this funny art page on Facebook and had a look. It's really simple and funny and wanted to keep a link on my blog for future reference.

Artist I like: Minjae Lee

I found this artist on Facebook and really found his work amazing. Minjae Lee draws these massive portraits using tiny pens and markers and other materials. It must be incredibly time consuming!!!! But I found it had an animation/graphic design to it! I love the colours!!! Colourful pieces like these catch my eye straight away! So I had to show some fellow classmates this amazing artist!!!!

Progress

I have drawn out all the individual pieces for the animation onto the software's Gimp and Paint Tool SAI (because I don't have anything better like Adobe Photoshop). I am happy with how they look on these software's BUT all the problems arise when it comes to putting it together on Adobe Flash CS6!!!!
It's really stressing me out! I've been working on this project for two months now and I was happy till I got to Flash. It's not coming together like how I wanted at all and I'm running out of time till I go back to college. Aaaaaaah how stressful!!!!!!
I've been looking tutorials up online and trying to follow them but it's difficult to follow. I'll soldier on till it's time to go back to college. I'll ask millions of questions when I get back!
I guess that's whats so difficult! No tutor or classmates to help you out over summer. Maybe that's the point of this project, to see how you manage on your own. Well obviously a cave woman like myself would struggle, maybe I should have picked a different way of doing the project....
Too late for complaining now!!! I'll try my best and hope it's not dreadful.

Wish me luck!
I'll keep you posted!

Experimenting with character design

Making the characters is a lot more difficult than I thought. It's hard to make them look right and not like weird scribbley aliens. But! That's why I'm experimenting.

Think I'd prefer if the characters were a little more animated ( or anime style ). Would look more amusing that way and can emphasize features and emotions.... We'll see!

Some screen shots. The style is better I think. (In a random order)

Backgrounds/ scenes

All the scenes/backgrounds were drawn with the Wacom tablet, so basically hand drawn.
I firstly made a basic outline. Then filled in a simple color palette and finally the result.
These scenes are not in order according to the film!

The parked car scene.

The putting the letter into the jacket scene

The band scene. Close up of drums.

When George is waiting at the dance scene.

My first scene. Marty about to put the letter into the jacket.

Scene where Lorraine gives out to Budd. View of the side of the car and door open.

Lorraine's side of the car and quick drawn in characters to see what its like.

Summer Project, Back to the Future

We were given a summer project to work on (mean!). We were each assigned 4mins of the film and we have to animate those 4mins any way we like. I downloaded the film online and am working from that, but there is a time difference between my film and the one of my tutors. The 'Spielberg' credit part comes up at 00:00:16 o my tutors film and it comes up at 00:00:19 on mine so I simply add 3secs to my original time.

My time is 1:16:33 to 1:20:48
This scene includes Marty putting a letter into Doc's pocket, then a scene with the band playing at the school dance, scanning over the dance floor to find George McFly. It then goes to a scene were Marty and Lorraine are in the car talking and they then share a awkward kiss. They talk some more and then Marty is dragged out of the car by the drunk Biff ,the bully and his gang. Biff notices the lovely Lorraine in the car and gets in with her, trying to force himself on her... that's were my scene ends!

Very dramatic scene!

The dance floor scene will be difficult because of all the people and so will trying to make the boring car scene more interesting. I'd love to be able to make an anime out of it but I've no idea how to go about that. We'll see how it goes. I want to find a quick but effective way of making it!

I recently got a Wacom drawing tablet. It was strange to use at first but you get used to it. It's very handy and I'm drawing the scenes using it.
