'The Story of a Square' ...Fluffy Box, Completed!

WOOHOO!! Managed to get my animation done in the end. Despite restarting it several times and having to edit out lots of frames because it was too long, trying to get all the layers timed properly, fiddling with bits and bobs till I'm satisfied with the result. Not bad first attemp at Flash I think :P

Enjoy!

'The Story of a Square' Project, Research and Drawings

I started my animation course and had to set up a blog especially for animation.

We were given our brief 'The Life of a Square'. Basically we have to start and finish the animation with a particular sized square in the centre of the screen and has to be 10seconds long, everything in between is up to you.

My previous animation was a stop motion, this time I'm going to use the software, Adobe Flash and probably Photoshop. But I'm a COMPLETE cavewoman and have no idea how to use the software so I'm finding it pretty difficult. I know once I get the hang of it I'll be able to make the animation pretty quickly.

I got the idea for my character from the Studio Ghibli film 'Spirited Away', from the little coal demons. I just thought they were such cute, clever little characters that I wanted to make my own.

Below are doodles in my sketchbook in relation to the notes I have in it. Doodling is a fun way to kill time!!!

My first animation

This was my first animation. I made this in the two weeks of trying the animation discipline. It's a stop motion. I had to draw, cut out and position every single movement to make it flow properly and then photograph each one carefully. I got the sound effects from a website I found online. This was make on video maker.
